Do you have room for storage of wood fuel? This could be a basement, an out-building or space tpo build an outbuilding or even an area where underground storgae facility could be installed.

Is your roof shaded, for example by neighbouring trees, other buildings or chimneys?
What area of your roof is clear of fittings, and is not shadowed during daylight hours? This would be approximate area available for roof mounted systems?
How much free space do you have in your garden?
Do you have underfloor heating or oversized radiators?
Is there an outside location, 2-4 metres square in size, close to your property and with an open air flow?
Are there any areas of land on your property that are further than around 50m from the nearest large obstacles (including trees and buildings over 10m high) and would hence lend themselves to the installation of a wind turbine?
What is the approximate distance between a proposed wind turbine location (if you have one) and other dwellings (in metres)?
Do you have access to a nearby water source that might be used for hydro-power?
What is the potential head of the water source, i.e. the vertical drop the water travels down (in metres)?
What is the flow of the stream, i.e. how much water comes down the stream (in litres per minute)?
